Glycosate Vet Injection
 |
| VET ONLY PRODUCT - Anti-cholinergic, anti-spasmodic preanaesthetic medication for Horses, Dogs and Cats |
|
| COMPOSITION |
| Glycopyrrolate 0.28 g/mL |
| Actions |
Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic agent which inhibits the action of acetylcholine on structures innervated by post-ganglionic cholinergic nerves, and on smooth muscles which respond to acetylcholine, but lack innervation. Glycopyrrolate diminishes the volume and free acidity of gastric secretions, and reduces intestinal motility. It diminishes and controls excessive pharyngeal, tracheal, and bronchial secretions, and has a longer lasting effect than atropine. Peak effect occurs approximately 30 - 60 minutes after intramuscular injection. The vagal blocking effect lasts for two to three hours, and the antisialogogue effect persists for up to seven hours. With intravenous injection the onset of action is generally evident within one minute. |
| Indications |
| GLYCOSATE VET is indicated as a pre-anaesthetic anticholinergic agent in horses, dogs and cats. It reduces salivary, tracheobronchial and pharyngeal secretions, reduces the volume and free acidity of gastric secretions, and blocks cardiac vagal inhibitory reflexes during induction of anaesthesia and intubation. |
