CEVA TO INTEGRATE NATURE VET INTO GLOBAL OPERATIONS
Sydney, Australia - Global veterinary pharmaceutical group, Ceva Sante Animale (Ceva), and Sydney based Nature Vet Pty Ltd (Nature Vet) announced today a deal that will see the Australian firm become a key member of the Ceva group in the Pacific region.
The acquisition of Nature Vet, known particularly for its strengths in the equine and companion animal fields, will enable Ceva to build a leading position in these market segments locally, whilst accelerating Nature Vet's drive into other markets around the world.
According to Ceva Chairman and CEO Mr Mark Prikazsky the Ceva Board identified a need to build its presence in the Pacific region in 2007, "This announcement today is the culmination of a story for us in Australia that began over 3 years ago. We welcome Nature Vet, its people and their closely aligned values into the Ceva family."
In its short 10 year history, Ceva has grown to become a top 10 player, directly invested in 46 countries throughout the world. It is this network, which will be used to further develop the sale of Nature Vet products outside Australia. Ceva will also gain a significant presence in Australia, a top 10 market for animal health products.
"The integration of Nature Vet into Ceva means that we will now have the right people, with the right products in place to be a major player in both the companion animal and equine sectors. There are also many more opportunities to grow the joint businesses in the future, in other segments. We will ensure that in the future Nature Vet has the resources to continue to grow," Mr Prikazsky added. Established in 1983 as a family business, Nature Vet's growth has been overseen by Managing Director Mr Stephen Rose, "This is an exciting time for Nature Vet that will see the realisation of our vision for growth in market share and growth in the distribution of our products globally," Mr Rose said.
"Importantly Ceva's approach to integration provides us with the opportunity to carry on running the business in an entrepreneurial way. The exciting growth plans will provide opportunities for our people and strengthen our competitive position." Mr Rose added.
The operations of Ceva's existing Australian subsidiary Delvet will be integrated with the Nature Vet facility at Glenorie in Sydney's north west in early 2011.
Importantly both companies believe that their customers, the vets and wholesalers who service them, as well as all animal owners will benefit from having access to a wider range of high quality veterinary products and services.

Although CEVA has grown to become a global company, we have managed to retain the spirit of a small to medium-sized enterprise. We owe our existence to the farmers, pet owners and veterinarians who support us. As a result, we are dedicated to providing them with the best possible products and services.
Originally known as Sanofi Sante Nutritional Animale, a subsidiary of Sanofi-Aventis, the management conducted the first of three leveraged buy-outs in 1999 and launched CEVA Sante Animale. In the latest LMBO (Leverage Management Buy‐out) completed in 2007, CEVA's management and employees acquired the majority shareholding in the company with the backing of our financial partners, Euromezzanine and Natixis.
The ability to integrate new businesses and products successfully into a wider strategic vision has been critical to our success. Our results-driven culture has allowed many entrepreneurs, who joined from outside, the freedom to continue to manage in their own style while linked to a common purpose.
ABOUT NATURE VET (www.naturevet.com.au)
Nature Vet has its origins in a successful equine veterinary practice which operated in Australia during the 1970s. In order to provide high quality, specialised veterinary products for their equine patients, two of the vets (Dr. G. A. Rose and Dr. L. Whatmore) enlisted the aid of an innovative chemist to form a manufacturing company called RWR.
In 1983, Drs. Rose and Whatmore formed a separate company, Nature Vet Pty. Ltd., to develop new, natural products. In 1986, RWR was separated from the veterinary practice, and in 1988 this company was amalgamated with Nature Vet. Dr. Gerry Rose and his wife, Helen, assumed full control of Nature Vet in 1995.
During 1999, Nature Vet acquired Biochemical Veterinary Research Pty. Ltd., which expanded the product range and key academic research and development relationships.
The Company continued its expansion, and in 2002 consolidated its activities in a new facility at Glenorie, a north‐west suburb of Sydney, Australia. This site is a GMP accredited facility with sufficient potential to continue the Company's planned expansion.
The origins of Nature Vet in an equine veterinary practice reflected a close relationship between the Company, the veterinarian and the equine patient. |
